Suzuka is a track that compares with the drivers on par with Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone, who cares if Fuji is lost as long as Suzuka gets it. I say good riddance.
splashlog, no. And to the people saying Bernie should not charge so much - get real! He is maybe the worlds greediest man known publicly, he will never relent. We can only pray whoever replaces him will be fairer and hope that a replacement is needed very soon!
Well, they both have to cut costs. Honda stays in with the track. Toyota stays in with the car.
stormwarning You're a miserable old Git aren't you
Maybe if Bernie the bandit didn't take all the loot, these historical circuits could afford to run races.
I don't care much about losing the Fuji Grand Prix, as long as it's replaced by Suzuka.
Trouble is, it's just too expensive to put on a race with what Bernie charges, so that the F1 'owners' can siphon off huge ammounts of money. I was looking forward to a FOTA series, back at all the proper tracks that have fans, history, tradition and great driving, leaving F1 literally in the wilderness.
FOTOA (Formula One Track Owners Alliance) First, it was FOTA, now it is FOTOA. Their bargainig power: "We're going bankrupt and won't be able to host next year Grand Prix, unless we get a more favorable deal. Bernie, please, let's talk". The first members are already in negotiations with Bernie (Montreal and Hockenheim) and there are rumours that new entries are coming (Fuji?).
Lovely. Ditch the German GP and then F1 won't be run in ANY major car-producing nations. Who needs 100,000+ fans at Indy or Fuji when we can have 25,000 Turks at some hole in the wall in Anatolia?
Chylout totally agree, love Fuji on Gran Turismo, but back in the real world Suzuka is a much better F1 track!
Aha... first their track, then their team. Mosely is right, a cap is essential to keep these teams from spending their way out of F1. Goodbye Toyota (in advance).
I hope it does not happen, too much tradition in Japan. great circuts and really different, keep the race B and M, both of you should go fishing
So Fuji goes away, does that mean Japan is back to Honda's track or are they going to back out as well?
Well, I guess this may be the sacrifice that Toyota makes in order to remain in F1 at all. Its difficult to run a circuit on a commerical basis if Bernie takes all the money.
Hopefully we can go back to using Suzuka every year then - much better track anyway.
