Dallara is not a "customer car". It is a joint venture, a Campos Dallara Cosworth. It is the same as BAR who started with a Reynard chassis and Mechachrome engine. Dallara should be able to build and develop the chassis. Odds are against them being midfield but it should give the boy's of STR more things to hit.
Let's hope the cars won't be as ugly as the ones Dallara produces for the IRL! Of course, if they are, it won't matter much as the only times we'll see them on TV is when they're lapped 10 times in each race.
I wouldn't expect too much from this entry, but it will be fun to see them race. New blood is always nice, but it will take a lot longer than 10 months to create a new F1 car when you've never really done it before (at least, with any success). It's more than aerodynamics. Will it be reliable? Will Dallara and Campos be able to pull off the electro-mechanical aspects of a F1 design? Will they use Cosworth engines, which are not yet proven? Any team wanting to make a splash in the F1 pool needs money... a lot of it, for top engineers and designs and a top engine source. Then, who will drive? Not an effort for the feint of heart.
@ Cyrano yeah you are right, clearly lewis hamilton was not prepared in 2007. If he were prepared he would have taken podiums and wins right out of the box....oh wait...that's right...he did, and your point is nonsense.
Is a car truly a "customer car" if nobody else is using it?
Does everyone forget that Minardi was kept alive by the other teams to provide an entry level for newbie drivers (like Hamilton SHOULD HAVE DONE)? And Honda's major problem was always aero. They claimed there was an unseen problem in their wind tunnel, so why didn't their aero guy see it? I'd say that Cosmos is going full speed into the dumper.
January 10th is a bit late to first run a completely new car, I would be more comfortable with straight line testing in November/December.
"Minardi's old technical head and Honda's old aero guy" Sounds like the meeting of failed "experts". Don't expect too much!
Shades of Scuderia Italia.....Everyone who wanted Lola to be one of the expansion teams, should support these guys.
I'm confussed, are we now allowing for spec cars on the field, I know Toro Rosso uses the RB chassis, but at least the build it. Wasn't theis part of Mad Max's Mad plan, for cookie cutter cars to bring cost down? Is FOTA going to allow this? This new development is confussing to say the least
Good to see another chassis out there. Its got to be good for F1 if they can design and build a competitive car, well more cometitive than Minardi was.
Sounds to me like a realist. He unlike Manor and Nick Worth is not claiming to be able to win right out of the box, But is looking forward to building and developing a good car.
Minardi's old technical head and Honda's old aero guy ...sounds like Cosmos GP is set to do a 'Brawn' in 2010
"let's hope it's quick, both for the sake of Campos and for us!" Hope??? Does he mean his strong people with fresh experience cannot give him a better word for their engineering skills than hope??!!
Will prop up Force India and Torro Rosso?
does this not make it a 'customer car'?

Campos will pull the plug without the budget cap. Sooner or later, someone will tell Dallara the news...
