Alonso is always trying his best, regardless of the car given to him. His wins at the end of last season prove that. He'd be more than capable of taking over from Kimi and doing the job. Because Kimi just doesn't seem to want to be in this game, anymore. Even his '07 championship was won only after deciding to apply himself properly in the latter stages of the season. Since then, only Massa has shown any desire to win. So Ferrari can deny this as often as they like. The only thing stopping them from signing him is his apparent need to be the team's only child. And that shouldn't bother them, having accommodated a certain German this way in the past.

It's not really a denial by Ferrari, they just said they wont comment on rumours and both current drivers have contracts for next year, that means absolutely nothing! Shouldn't they be saying something like "Alonso is not driving for us next year" Now that's a denial...

I hope that Ferrari have signed him - Kimi has become a waste of space. Even his not talking to anyone AT ALL shows him up. His head is no longer in the zone.

Alonso with his problematic stay with McLaren has probably frighten off a lot of teams including Ferrari which has excellent drivers in Kimi or Massa who Alonso will not like to be team-mates. So there you are.

I hope Alonso will race for Ferrari. But nobody can predict how the things will go and what is for certain is the big talent Alonso has. Even when he was in the same team with Hamy and not only Hamy but all the team were "racing against" Alonso he managed to stay only 1 point behind the teammate. Who else can do that?!

Massa was team mate and no2 the Schumi and didnt like it then even though they got on and still do, so i cant really see him playing second fiddle to Alonso or Vettel,my preference is Vettel as he will learn a lot from Massa.

well it may be true that alonso isnt going to arrive at ferrari in the near future, but all i know is they would be stupid not to sign him, he would be a valuable driver for any team, and hes the best driver in f1, apart from L.H ofcourse

Alonso has only once had a teamate who was good as him, and he ended up spitting his dummy out the pram cause he wants preferencial treatment in all aspects, If he signs for ferrari hes going to want that in writing. Massa isnt just going to let him walz in and become his number 2, he wants to be world champion and on certain tracks under certain conditions massa is the best in the field. I think its more likely Ferrari will go for Vettel, but in 2011 vettel is showing the better his team mate the better he performs, so seb and felipe looks to be a great partnership, And a german in a red car will definatly go down well with the Ferrari fans

The designers are the real determinants of the championship. Vettel is a good, and will be a great driver. But when he (eventually) gets his championship, it's Newey who should be paid the really big bucks.

Junho I just want to undeline you that it's the driver and car or car and the driver let me put to you like that , how many drivers had a good car and never became a WDC for exemple Rubens and DC at least they should be a WDC by now but somehow they never or even get closer with great cars. So a driver counts alot

Kimi will quit in december, to race WRC. Massa and Alonso have respect for each other, They can be a good team for Ferrari to find the next cup.

Yeah, Yeah, Ferrari has got Kimi and Massa until 2010, One backed into the Cahmpionship by one point and the other lost it by one point, Kimi does not want to be in F1( I don't blame him I do not politics either)and massa will sell his first born and his wife to stay in the redcar. Give him a pay cut and the #2 status that is well deserved and if he doesn't like it, send him on his way to Force India, I hear they need to replace Fisichela with another loser

With Santander becoming a sponsor of Ferrari for 2010 it only makes sense they would want a Spanish driver

Ferrari needs a driver which is capable of giving back to the team valuable feedback and be able to setting up the car, just like the 'great' Shumacher, if they will have any chance to build a race winner car again. Alonso can deliver that and will be a great asset for the Ferrari team. Although I still have faith in Raikonnen. Personally I believe that Ferrari has signed Alonso, the question is, for what season?

niceguy007
Posted 03/07/2009 @ 17:26 View all niceguy007's posts

Why should they sign him? Massa and Kimi are still good enough. Besides, Vettel should go to Ferrari and side with Massa. Alonso is a good driver, but hates a fair beating from his team mate. Only in his dreams, will he (Alonso) go to Ferrari WITH a number 1 status. People hate Hamilton, but at least Hamilton is staying loyal to his team during bad and good times and plus, he never asks for a Number 1 status, unlike Alonso.

They are concerned Kimi might get upset and empty their ice cream machines. Hence they deny it at the moment. No doubt it will happen at some stage.

We'll see what happens in this saga. Rumors are usually just that... rumors. However, IF this rumor is true with Alonso set to join Ferrari in 2010, it will mean that either Kimi or Massa will likely be paid a huge sum of money (although, it depends what is said in each contract) to make room for Alonso. And, do you think either Kimi or Massa will be #2 behind Alonso? FWIW, Kimi appears to be fed up with F1, as he has not been the top dog in the sport, as he expected to be once he joined Ferrari. And, Massa is a top driver, but has not had that extra push or desire or talent to be #1. Alonso could have been #1 with McLaren, but he let his hot temper get the best of him and he never acted like the top driver. To be on top, you need the desire and talent as well as the ability to not let the whole scene get under your skin. What would have happened with Alonso and Hamilton and McLaren if the scandal had not occurred and if Alonso had put his skills up front and acted as the 2X champion he was? We'll never know. I wish all involved in this current saga all the best. I am not sure if Alonso would be the best if drove a Ferrari. Would he be any better than if he stays to oversee the improvements to Renault which will occur? His leaving the Renault team may set them back a bit, unless Kimi or Massa trade spots with Alonso. It's anyone's guess as to what will really occur.

I think Alonso is a good driver, I also think he is arrogant, rude and a trouble maker. I also think he's over-the-hill. There's to many younger drivers waiting in the wings. But does not one have to have a good car!!!!

Alonso going to Ferrari doesn't assure Ferrari fighting for wins again. I compare Alonso with Schumacher when it comes to understanding of the car and talent ( even though Alonso is more talented when it comes to risk taking and overtaking ) and it took Michael 4 long years behind the Williams and the McLarens before he could win a championship. Yes, he fought for 1st places and he won those years, but based on pure talent. The car wasn't there yet, and in modern F1 to win a championship the car is more important than the driver.

The Spanish press is directing Ferrari to take on Alonso. Don't sign Alonso. Reserve the seat for Vettel. Alonso and Vettel cannot go together. Should Vettel lives to his full potential he will prove himself to be The BEST. Everybody wants to drive for Ferrari like all footballers want to play for Real Madrid.

They haven't actually denied it, have they? They said they won't comment, and they said that Massa and Raikkonen have contracts for 2010. But they did not say 'we haven't signed alonso'. Personally, I hope they have.

It would make a lot of sense. Alonso wants to be in a winning car which Renault isn't. Ferrari fans and stake holders want to see a bankable star in one of there cars which Alonso is. I am a huge fan of either but it would be a good signing. Who goes? Probably both current drivers unless Massa accepts no pay increase and a clear number 2 status. Kimi is smart, he'l take the Ferrari money and go race something else for another hunk of money :D
