'Most will opt for the boxer nose'

As the launches continue, Force India's Andrew Green reckons the F1 teams will unveil more boxer-nosed cars than the design style chosen by McLaren.

Force India joined Ferrari in unveiling their 2012 car to the world on Friday and it was quickly apparent that the sleek stylish nose seen when McLaren launched earlier in the week was going to be the exception to the rule.

Based on the new regulations dictating the front chassis height, both Force India and Ferrari opted to go with a stepped-boxer nose design.

The design is similar to that used by Caterham, the first team to launch, and differs to that on the new McLaren, arguably the best-looking car out of the four unveiled.

However, Green, Force India's tech director, believes McLaren's approach will not be the norm.

"It's a bit of a hot topic this year," he told Sky Sports News. "There's been a bit of a regulation change on the nose height.

"With our philosophy, we've gone with the drop nose. We think most will follow our philosophy.

"Obviously a lot of people commented on the McLaren a couple of days ago. They have a different aero philosophy at the front, so they've managed to keep their nose down.

"For us, it's not a big deal. It's purely aesthetics."
