Kimi downplays 'favourite' tag

Friday 9th May 2008

Kimi Raikkonen has downplayed Ferrari's apparent dominance, saying there are circuits where the Scuderia will struggle.

After coming up short in Australia, Ferrari have won the last three successive grands prix, including back-to-back 1-2s in Bahrain and Spain.

As a result the Italian stable leads the Constructors' standings by 12 points over BMW, while Raikkonen, the winner of two grands prix, has a nine-point lead over Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers' Championship.

The Italian stable's results have led to some suggestions that they will dominate for the rest of the season, however, Raikkonen has downplayed these claims.

"We had difficulties in Monaco and Montreal last year, and if anything it will be more difficult for us there than any other places," he told ITV.

"So we need to wait and see how we will do at those places.

"For sure the car is a bit stronger (this year), but we haven't had those circuits yet so it's very difficult to say exactly how we will go there."
