Fastest lap times: Some good news for KimiSunday 25th May 2008With conditions playing havoc at the Monaco Grand Prix, it is not really a big surprise that none of the podium finishers claimed the fastest lap on Sunday.
The honours went to Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, despite his miserable afternoon on the streets of Monte Carlo
The Finn, who picked up a stop-and-go penalty early in the race and then smashed into the back of Adrian Sutil on lap 67, set the fastest lap of 1:16.689 during the closing stages of the race.
McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen and Renault's Ferando Alonso, who were among the first drivers to switch over to dry tyres when conditions were clearing up, were second and third respectively with 1:17.282 and 1:17.869.
Surprisingly, race winner Lewis Hamilton's fastest lap of 1:18.510, which put him down in sixth place, was almost two seconds slower than that of Raikkonen.
Hamilton's fellow podium finishers Robert Kubica and Felipe Massa concluded the top five with 1:17.886 and 1:17.933 respectively.
Driver of the day Sutil, who was on course for a fourth-place finish when his race was cruelly ended by Raikkonen, only managed a 1:22.039 as his fastest lap.
