Prac Three: Alonso leads the waySaturday 5th July 2008Fernando Alonso topped a wet-dry final practice session in Britain, edging Mark Webber by a quarter of a second.
Practice Three began with a wet track due to heavy overnight rain. As a result the drivers were tentative about heading out, waiting for some of the water to dry out before heading out themselves.
Once out on track it was the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen who took the early lead, however, once a dry line began to appear and the drivers switched to intermediate tyres the duo lost out to some rather unexpected rivals.
Renault's Fernando Alonso proved to be the pace-setter with the Spaniard clocking a 1:20.740 to beat Webber by 0.248s.
Third place went to Heikki Kovalainen, however, the McLaren driver was over half a second off the pace and only marginally ahead of Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel.
Hamilton finished in fifth place ahead of Nelson Piquet Jr while Sebastien Bourdais ensured a great final practice hour for Toro Rosso.
Tim Glock completed the top eight ahead of Raikkonen.
