Bernie isn't Donington's moneymanSaturday 5th July 2008Bernie Ecclestone has denied speculation that he is the moneyman behind Donington Park's F1 deal.
The FIA announced on Friday morning that Donington Park would become the new home of the British GP from 2010 onwards, taking the race away from Silverstone.
However, the circuit needs work done in order to reach the standards required by Ecclestone and the FIA, which means that over the next five years the venue will undergo a £100million facelift as part of the agreement.
That announcement has led to some speculation as to where the money is coming from with some suggesting that Ecclestone could be the one with the deep pockets.
The F1 supremo, though, has denied this although according to the Daily Mail he did reveal that it is someone who has shares in Donington Ventures Leisure and is an English businessman.
For now, though, the investor remains a mystery.
