Anthony Davidson was delighted with his Honda test earlier this week, which saw him get behind the wheel of a F1 car for the first time since the Spanish GP.
Davidson has been out of the sport since that grand prix, Super Aguri's last in F1, however, made his return at Barcelona on Thursday when Honda asked him replace regular tester Alex Wurz for the day.
"It's definitely good to be driving again," the Brit told Autosport. "After a few months without driving and watching all the grands prix it's been frustrating, so it's nice to be making a return, driving in anger again."
The test went a long way towards strengthening Davidson's resolve to remain in F1. However, he concedes that he will probably have to wait until next year to get a race-seat.
"It's a bad time of the year to be searching for opportunities, especially in Formula One, that's where I want to remain for now and for next year," he said.
"I'm thinking of my future now. I definitely want to remain in Formula One, as I had said before. I feel it's where I belong. My driving has adapted around these cars and it's what I do. It's my job.
"So I'm very keen to remain in Formula One and I believe I have a place in the paddock. We'll have to wait and see.
"For sure racing is my goal. I still feel it's unfinished business for me and I have a lot more to show in a better car. Driving this car here makes me realise even more that F1 is mostly about the car, not the driver.
"Driving this car really made me understand what a difference the car makes in Formula One.
"It was actually easier to drive than the Aguri car and allows the driver to drive more relaxed, more consistent, and the lap times just come effortlessly."
