Heikki Kovalainen set the pace on the final day of testing at Jerez, where the McLaren driver was in action using the team's latest nose wing design.
On yet another very hot day at the Spanish circuit, Kovalainen clocked a 1:18.385 to beat his nearest competitor by 0.4s.
That competitor was Toro Rosso's Sebastien Bourdais, who proved once again this week that STR could be a team to be reckoned with in the future.
David Coulthard was thrid for Red Bull finishing ahead of Renault tester Romain Grosjean and Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
Massa was another driver testing new aerodynamic parts as the Brazilian ran the shark fin engine cover during the afternoon - Ferrari's first outing with the design.
Kazuki Nakajima was sixth ahead of Nick Heidfeld, who stopped out on track during the course of the day, while Adrian Sutil completed the top eight.
