BBC apologise for sweary Button

Monday 2nd November 2009

BBC bosses were last night forced to apologise after Jenson Button swore live on air during their F1 broadcast of the Abu Dhabi GP.

Following his podium finish at the Yas Marina circuit, Button was having a casual chat with fellow podium finisher Mark Webber when the BBC's cameras cut to them.

And, unfortunately, that was the moment when Button said the f-word.

"It was a live broadcast which showed a conversation between two individuals and in the heat of the moment Jenson Button swore, and it was unfortunately picked up on air," a BBC spokesman said.

"We apologise for any offence caused and we apologised immediately on air after it happened. It is part and parcel of live broadcasts."

"My first comment, I've read this site for years but now feel the need to comment: I think that Bernie & co should schedule the start time all of the races on the calendar so that they can be showed live in the UK after the 9:00pm watershed, then nobody would be bothered "

"that amused me more than anything else, anyone who actually was offended obviously doesn't grasp how things can happen in the heat of a moment and i was too busy giggling to really care that he had sworn on ive television, it wasn't like he was swearing at Webber for not etting him past, just describing it from his point of view. and it wasn't at all like the Trulli/Sutil arguement on the race track, it was 3 guys having a conversation, of which a swear word cropping up is a normality"

"The meek are inheriting the earth and are also doing the triple somersault apology for this silly blunder.. for goodness sake where will it end...."

"What is the matter with the UK I am a Brit living State side

Always telling Americans that we are more liberal. It's only a word & a very good one at that!"
