Despite their recent dip in form, BMW could hardly have wished for a better season, according to Nick Heidfeld.
The Hinwil-based squad have exceeded expectations when Robert Kubica claimed their maiden grand prix win in Canada.
The Pole also lead the World Championship standings for a while, and Heidfeld is savouring the success.
"We are having an excellent season," Heidfeld told the German media.
"We have already achieved three best marks: the first fastest lap, the first pole position, and the first victory.
Heidfeld has been overshadowed by his team-mate for most of the time, and he believes their different driving styles is playing a big role.
"Robert is coming out on top in some driving situations, particularly when it comes to heating the tyres up in qualifying. Our different driving styles play a role in this," he added.
"I would describe my driving style as very rounded and gentle on the car and tyres. It was this that allowed me to keep going for 41 laps on the super-soft tyres in Canada at the start of June."
