Although the Chinese Grand Prix continues to run at a big loss, Bernie Ecclestone is optimistic the race won't disappear from the F1 calendar.
Organisers of the race are yet to confirm if they will sign a new five-year contract once their current deal expires at the end of the 2010 season.
F1 surpremo Ecclestone, though, is confident the race would still be around in 2011, saying: As long as there is China, we will be here.
"Asia is growing while lots of parts of the world are dying. That is the difference."
Ecclestone admits he is disappointed with the lack of financial backing from Chinese companies.
"It is disappointing that it is not supported by local companies," Ecclestone is quoted by Reuters.
"I think they are missing an awful lot. It seems to me in China nobody cares about branding and a grand prix is a good chance to promote a brand."

"bernie is obviously trying get the chinese to make this a corporate affair, with lots of companies doing the entertaining bit, but the chinese do not operate that way, but the western companies do and they should be the target market."

Maybe it's because capitalism isn't as big in China (yet) as it is in the west. Bernie must be scratching his head at such strange concepts...
No mention of the fans though, as others have said. Who cares about them though. Ask the folk in Canada, the US of A, France, need I go on..."

"Bernie can race in Montreal and somewhere in the USA and have the stands filled with paying fans. But No ! Bernie won't let anybody else earn a profit from Formula 1. "

"Promoters charge like a wounded bull to try and cover the rediculous cost of running ameeting. A cost that is governed by an old man with a huge ego that does not give a toss about the fans. Bernie must think he will be remembered for all of the circuits around the world he got going. Sorry Bernie, you will be remembered for destroying F1 by driving up costs so no-one can afford it."
